The fact that Coroner's last original full length and arguably best work is unavailable is criminal. I have burned copies for friends and will continue to do so, so that they don't have to pay >$50 for the rare second hand copy that appears on ebay.
It is depressing to learn that Grin was their lowest selling album, no wonder they quit, because of the deliberate lack of support from Noise. It's obvious to me how much care, effort and passion they put into their work, only to be shat on by their record company. Such treatment will usually end in catastrophic failure.
I admire Tom Gabriels determination after similar treatment. He is a rare individual. The new Frost, by the way, is fucking awesome: heavy as, and well worth the wait. I sincerely hope they tour Australia after they finish serving mass in Japan; I will worship fervently in my ancient tattered No More Color shirt.
I have digressed. Grin should be reissued and take it's place as one of the classic albums of the ninety's. If Noise had pulled their heads out of their arses in 93, it would have been a huge seller for them. In my opinion, Grin stands as the standout work of that year. I challenge anyone to name a better work from 93.
Sorry for the tirade, but this issue has pissed me off for years, and it was time for me to let it go.

You know what's odd? I think somehow that it has been reissued, unless my local record store somehow gets mint-condition, still-unopened copies of the album on a frequent basis. It's the only Coroner record they carry.
Have you tried eBay?

Yes, I've seen it on ebay for $40 USD.
Grin is the only album I have not seen in local record stores.

I heartily agree with your frustrations. Surely there's a company that has done Noise reissues. Why has Grin been excluded?

I imagine it's because it was their lowest selling release Makes me want to flay those responsible at Noise.

Ok I just had a look on eBay and there are a few copies of Grin at quite reasonable prices, such as this one, which is interstingly a re-issue on Futurist Records. It also features a decent review.

Yeah, you're right. It looks like a reissue and well priced too. Thanks for the research, maybe I'll buy some for friends for christmas.
BTW the review is from All Music Guide, which is a very comprehensive site with intelligent reviews.

Futurist is the reissue I have.
No lyrics in the booklet but oh well...they're pretty intelligible in the mix, yes?

There weren't any in the original anyway, just a line or two for each song printed, and that was it...

Yeah, shame about that. Even the vinyl pressing was without an inner sleeve apparently. I don't have one yet, I'm reluctant to shell out big bucks for a sub-optimal product.
It would be great if Marky could supply us with an electronic copy of what he said was originally intended to be included with the original release, providing he still has any of that stuff.....

The Futurist pressing is an original press, Futurist is who the CD was distributed by in the United States. Just like alot of early Earache releases will be Earache/Combat, because Combat distributed them in the US. Or maybe it was a joint effort between them and Noise to release Grin, I dont know the details. Either way, Futurist has long been kaput since the 90's, no way are they still re-issuing CDs. ;D

BTW I have an original Australian edition with a "Thrust Records" logo on the back where "Futurist" or another distributor's logo would be, depending on the country of origin.

well I know it's "Out of Print" just like the farewell CORONER named album... never managed to see one of them for real though
BDW, I can say this one may be my favorite CORONER album after so many years of listening to all of their stuff...

I completely agree, because I just got my copy of Grin in the mail, which I had a friend purchase for me off Amazon.com (I know, it's the cheater's way out, but I deserve a break!). I'm on 'Internal Conflicts' and I'm finding the album to be absolutely AMAZING. It was definitely worth the money spent. And the CD is still in really good shape
