Anyone else heard this French outfit's album Irradiant? Many comparisons have been made between Scarve and Coroner (the main reason I bought the album), and whilst I agree that you can see the Coroner influence particularly in one or two solos, I am still undecided. But I wonder if it's just because I'm getting old? Interested to hear what anyone else thinks...

Sorry for the late response evilgrin, only just saw your post. Scarve have a traditional death metal vocal, not too extreme though, slightly more deathly than Ron, but does sound a bit like him. The music is kind of a thrash/death crossover, faster than Coroner, but with plenty of tempo and stylistic changes. The production on this CD (Irradiant) is solid. The soloing really does remind of Tommy, though there's not quite as much of it. I'm listening to the album now so that I could give an honest opinion, and it's growing on me a bit. So to sum it up they sound like a slightly more extreme version of Coroner, yet they do have mellow interludes too. Hmmm... I'm gonna listen some more. I still can't decide how good it is. It certainly isn't bad, that's for sure. Worth a listen to anyone who likes the Coroner boys, I'd say.
