I've been out of the metal scene for a few years but recently stumbled onto a whole set of Amorphis CD's and gave them a listen... I was immediately hooked... although only three of the cd's really maintained my interest, I thought I'd recommend them anyhow. The three albums that I'm really keen on are "Tales from the Thousand Lakes", "Elegy", and "Tuonela". If you like stuff like "Opeth" or "Candlemass", or just about any Scandinavian stuff, you might like this as well. If you can't find the cd's you can get all three of these albums off of emusic.com.... the price is reasonable (actually they have freebies for an introductory offer I think) and they are variable bitrate mp3's.... very good quality. Oh, and sorry if it's already been mentioned.

I've been out of the metal scene for a few years but recently stumbled onto a whole set of Amorphis CD's and gave them a listen... Yeah, I have no idea what's going on in metal nowadays myself... The three albums that I'm really keen on are "Tales from the Thousand Lakes", "Elegy", and "Tuonela". Yeah, I've got Elegy, Tales..., and The Karalian (sp?) Isthmus, the heaviest of their first three cds...plus their ep of Disment of Soul. If you like stuff like "Opeth" or "Candlemass", Heh, yeah, their third song on Karalian sounded like sped-up Candlemass...other than that, I don't really think they sounded like them at all, though Oh well, interesting comparison!
