If you go to this page here and scroll down a bit www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=289292&highlight=breadfan&sid=55bef5362bd25a736696b9c9e69f2816#289292, you'll see some photos of my imported Metallica cds of Jump in the Fire/Creeping Death, the Japanese version of "One" with the lyrics of "Breadfan" (which was unusual enough as it is) in Japanese and English, plus the 3" cd of "One" as well. I also have the vinyl (remember that?) ep of Candlemass' "At the Gallow's End", which must've had an incredibly short run, since I only saw in one catalog only, so I was real lucky to snap it up; it had the remade version of two songs from their debut (actually they were exactly the same, save for a guitar solo with their new guitarist and their new opera singer on vocals) and "Gallow's", which would appear on their next cd Nightfall. I also have the Slayer Seasons in the Abyss ep, which had these skulls floating around in this red liquid that looked like blood in the cd sleeve, although it must've had a microscopic leak since it eventually dried up. Still pretty cool, though, and I only read about it in one magazine once, and if I hadn't of seen it at a record convention, I never would've known it existed. I also have a vinyl copy of Witchfynde's Cloak and Dagger, which is supposedly worth about $100 mint (not that it's mint though), and Witchfinder General's Friends of Hell on silver reflective vinyl, which is so rare that, upon finding two W. G. web sites, one of them didn't even have a photo of it, yet they had photos of other different vinyl pressings of it (white, picture, etc.)! So, you got any?

Yeh, I've got about 900 import items. Well they're UK versions mostly, so they're import to you, anyway! ...OK, lame effort. Funnily enough you seem to have a similar taste in 'bands to own rare stuff by'. I've no idea how rare or not these are, but I've got the following (all on vinyl) Metallica: Jump In The Fire shaped disc Creeping Death gold disc Master Of Puppets on double vinyl Ride The Lightning on double vinyl Garage days EP & all Regular 12" singles up to & including Enter Sandman I also saw Metallica live with Anthrax supporting in (I think about September?) 1986. At the Birmingham Odeon, it was one of Cliff's last concerts, and it was monster!! Candlemass: Samarithan 12", backed with two re-workings from Epicus Doomicus Metallicus! (The session guy they had on that original album did some pretty neat solos I thought). I always liked 'At The Gallows End', good choice! Slayer: 7" Red vinyl Post Mortem & Criminally Insane mounted in a big black chain-hung Iron Cross!! Plus lots of other vinyl (Live Undead, Haunting The Chapel & all the early albums etc..) I don't have any Witchfynde or Witchfynder General (what are they like?), but my proudest rare item is an original spiral label copy of 'Black Sabbath' by er.. Black Sabbath, that is signed across the inner part of the gatefold in massive letters by Tony Iommi. He also signed a 7" & 12" single, & the album, all the 'Headless Cross' (that was the current album & single when I got his sigs). Got loads of rare & imported Sabbath, but proudest of the signed stuff.

Yeh, I've got about 900 import items. Well they're UK versions mostly, so they're import to you, anyway! ...OK, lame effort. Details, schmetails Funnily enough you seem to have a similar taste in 'bands to own rare stuff by'. Well, if you've got over 900 FREAKIN' ALBUMS, you're BOUND to have a few that *I* do! ;D Metallica: I also saw Metallica live with Anthrax supporting in (I think about September?) 1986. At the Birmingham Odeon, it was one of Cliff's last concerts, and it was monster!! Ah man, you saw Cliff? (envy time for me now ;D RIP Cliff) Candlemass: Samarithan 12", backed with two re-workings from Epicus Doomicus Metallicus! (The session guy they had on that original album did some pretty neat solos I thought). I always liked 'At The Gallows End', good choice! Wow, hadn't heard of the 12", Gallows End was incredibly rare enough here as it was! Slayer: 7" Red vinyl Post Mortem & Criminally Insane mounted in a big black chain-hung Iron Cross!! Damn, do you have a digital camera or a scanner?! Hadn't even HEARD of that! I don't have any Witchfynde or Witchfynder General (what are they like?), Witchfinder General has the low-tuned, early Black Sabbath sound... but my proudest rare item is an original spiral label copy of 'Black Sabbath' by er.. Black Sabbath, Now how the hell can you NOT know W. General, yet mention B. Sabbath right after that?! Anyway, WG DID have a bit of an original sound, along with very excellent singer Zeeb Parkes (sp?). They only did two albums, which I heard you should get both if you like either one (only have their second one). Witchfynde's a bit harder to peg, due to also only having one of their cds in Cloak and Dagger (oh, reminds me, that post is outdated, due to recently finding out I lost that silver vinyl WG album after all ), which is pretty much a perfect cd, there's not one crappy tune on there, it's got kind of the Iron Maiden-/Helloween-ish high pitched singing here and there, but it's not always that way, and all of the songs are good, about the same length and pace and all, it's just good metal, it's the kind of stuff you'd play to someone who isn't into metal, you know? 'Cause it's really good, no vomit vocals, the singer can actually sing, etc. I heard their first album had some different, weird stuff going on in there (want that one next, not released on cd yet though), and another album of theirs sounded different too (don't recall the details at the moment)...WG's stuff sounded the same on their two albums (surprised you hadn't heard of either one, by the way, they were both UK bands!). Anyway if you want to PM me your e-mail (unless it's in your profile, I'm being too lazy to look right now ), I can send you some soundclips of the stuff...it's not going to sound that great, but you'll still be able to hear everything and get a good idea of what the bands sound like. This goes for everyone reading this too, but act fast, this offer won't be around for long! (Probably be deleting the stuff within a week; the computer I use for the internet and all isn't mine.) my proudest rare item is an original spiral label copy of 'Black Sabbath' by er.. He also signed a 7" & 12" single, & the album, all the 'Headless Cross' (that was the current album & single when I got his sigs). Wow, so you met him, eh? What was he like?

Ah man, you saw Cliff? (envy time for me now ;D RIP Cliff) It was a top quality gig, the 'thrax were on form that night too. Damn, do you have a digital camera or a scanner?! Hadn't even HEARD of that! Yeh, I do have a camera. Next time I'm home with my vinyl (see post elsewhere for vinyl location info!! ) I'll take a pic & send it on. I can send you some soundclips of the stuff Man, I'd really appreciate that, if you've still got 'em! I'll send you my contact details, Cheers! Wow, so you met him, eh? What was he like? He was so cool, he had a totally awesome prescence, I sure as hell felt like I was talking to a legend!! He was real friendly, chatting about the current state of metal (as was in 1989!) and asking about my own tastes and fave Sabbath tracks. I gotta admit that I was a bit in awe in a way that could never happen with anyone else, coz I got into Sabbath when I was 9 and Tone was my absolute Metal God!! ;D

...as mentioned elsewhere today, I've been busy with my camera! ;D I don't have a facility to get photos up on this board as yet, so I hope you don't mind me sending 'em to you direct?! ...I will anyway! Took a photy of the Slayer disc (I lied about the tracks, it's actually Criminally Insane backed with Agressive Perfector - Post Mortem is actually the extra track on my 12" version of the same single - maybe a bit too much info, but the detail matters!! ) I also saw you mention Deathrow somewhere else? so I included a pic of all my Deathrow albums, the rarity being that their original album was issued under 2 seperate titles with different covers (bit like PfD!), once as 'Riders of Doom' & once as 'Satans Gift' (the pic includes both of course!). The other 2 albums were their best anyway - 'Raging Steel' and 'Deception Ignored'. So glad that someone else out there appreciates the guitar work of these cool German thrashers!!

I don't have a facility to get photos up on this board as yet, so I hope you don't mind me sending 'em to you direct?! ...I will anyway! Not a problem...I use www.photobucket.com for my photos, but it's too early to tell if they're any good yet or not...it's free though, and a suggestion, along with also suggesting you make the photos smaller before uploading them onto the site! I also saw you mention Deathrow somewhere else? so I included a pic of all my Deathrow albums, Yeah, that was a big surprise!! once as 'Riders of Doom' & once as 'Satans Gift' (the pic includes both of course!). So those are the same album? The other 2 albums were their best anyway - 'Raging Steel' and 'Deception Ignored'. So glad that someone else out there appreciates the guitar work of these cool German thrashers!! Yeah, the opener to Deception Ignored can be tough for some people to get into (a guitar player friend of mine [pretty good one, too] couldn't stand it upon hearing it, but another one [also pretty good] said "those guitarists are fantastic", so that was cool), but they were pretty killer!

So those are the same album? Yeh, the back cover on each is identical, but alas it's not a great album. I just got both coz I loved Deathrow! ;D Raging Steel was a brilliant piece of thrash, and you're right about 'Events in Concealment' on Deception Ignored being a great track (I'm listenin' to it now, it's great to hear it again!!). Another fave on that album is 'Narcotic' - nine & a half minutes of total time-changing thrasharama!! It's weird, but as German bands go I rated them way above their fellow countrymen Kreator, yet Deathrow seemed to get nowhere at all! A bit like how I feel that Celtic Frost are wildly overrated when compared with another certain Swiss Metal band. I recently bought a Gravedigger album (another German Noise records band in the 80's) for the first time in years, and they're now better than they ever were back then. I was impressed with the way they've updated the thrash style, but somehow kept it 'true'. How about American Metal? Here's a few of my fave 'old timer' American bands: Testament Savatage Armored Saint Metal Church Manowar (and proud of it!!) Death Angel Exodus In one way or another they're just about all still going, which is fantastic! ~So which are the best American bands? Like any of those above? Most of my recent aquisitions have been European, particularly Scandinavian. From here in the UK there were obviously Sabbath & Priest, I know you like a bit of Skyclad, and of course the great Witchfynder G (checked out that website, btw ) but there's little else of real quality. The Meads of Asphodel are a current band worth a listen.... Maybe it's worth a topic in it's own right...

Raging Steel was a brilliant piece of thrash, and you're right about 'Events in Concealment' on Deception Ignored being a great track (I'm listenin' to it now, it's great to hear it again!!). Yeah, the fast and furious riffs...and then when you get the slowdown intro to "The Deathwish"... (Keenau Reeves mode) "whoa!" ;D Another fave on that album is 'Narcotic' - nine & a half minutes of total time-changing thrasharama!! Hell yeah, that's always been a favorite of mine too! You can't get bored with that one, not much of the song repeats itself or anything! Just like "Subjected to Torture", being Brutality's longest song, at eight minutes (hell, THAT'S who I forgot to add to my American bands' list of faves; *knew* I forgot somebody!). It's weird, but as German bands go I rated them way above their fellow countrymen Kreator, yet Deathrow seemed to get nowhere at all! I've got nothing against Kreator, but their guitarists just weren't as good as Deathrow's...but then, few bands WERE! ;D Too bad...wonder what the 'row boys are up to nowadays? Unfortunately, being so underground, probably hardly anyone knows... A bit like how I feel that Celtic Frost are wildly overrated when compared with another certain Swiss Metal band. Ah, who the heck do you mean? Gee, I liked Celtic Frost a lot, I'd DEFINITELY like to check out *another* Swiss band, especially if they're so much better than Frost! I recently bought a Gravedigger album (another German Noise records band in the 80's) Isn't that Tankard, where several of the members are in both bands? Or all of them? Most of my recent aquisitions have been European, particularly Scandinavian. From here in the UK there were obviously Sabbath & Priest, I know you like a bit of Skyclad, and of course the great Witchfynder G (checked out that website, btw ) Heh heh...nice, topless lady, eh? ;D The Meads of Asphodel are a current band worth a listen.... What're they like? Never heard of them... How about American Metal? From here in the UK there were obviously Sabbath & Priest, I know you like a bit of Skyclad, but there's little else of real quality. Maybe it's worth a topic in it's own right... All answered on your other thread

Yeah, the fast and furious riffs...and then when you get the slowdown intro to "The Deathwish"... (Keenau Reeves mode) "whoa!" ;D Man, TOTALLY!! I always wished that song carried on & made more of that riff. SO cool!!! I feel exactly the same about that riff! wonder what the 'row boys are up to nowadays? Unfortunately, being so underground, probably hardly anyone knows... I'd like to know if they did anything else, so if Sven Flügge or Milo happen to read this, then tell us what you've been up to yeh? (Sirius 13 lazy research ) Heh heh...nice, topless lady, eh? ;D That's so sexist. (but, hell yeh! ) What're they like? Never heard of them... The Meads are kinda spaced out black metal with a 70's vibe going on.

Man, TOTALLY!! I always wished that song carried on & made more of that riff. SO cool!!! I feel exactly the same about that riff! That was the only thing that a friend of mine liked about that song, actually, when I played it for him once. But I'll bet if he heard it a second time he would've liked it then, I know I didn't like it the first time either, for some reason Some things you don't instantly "get", though, you know? The Meads are kinda spaced out black metal with a 70's vibe going on. Sounds interesting!
