Anyone remember these bands? I've been wondering what happened to their members ie. other projects, what their members ended up doing..... I saw Cynic live in 93, absolutely insane musicians, Sean Reinert (drums) is/was the best drummer in metal IMO, I'd love to know what happened to him. Likewise with Tony Choy (bass) who played first in Cynic, then Atheist, he was a huge influence on my own bass playing. I've had a bit of a look around online, but haven't come up with much..... Any info would be very much appreciated.

Sean Reinert went on to form Aghorra with Paul Masvidal. Then played drums on Sean Malone's Gordian Knot albums - you can get further info/links for Cynic etc. at www.seanmalone.netDon't know what happened to Tony Choy. Sean Malone provided the bass on "Focus" anyway - fantastic player.

Cheers rolgat, yeah I love Seans frettless playing on Focus, it suits the album so well. I'll be looking into Aghorra, thanks.
I wonder what became of Tony Choy?

Found something on Tony Choy by logging on to www.cynicalsphere.com - unfortunately I don't particularly enjoy latin-american music or speak Spanish to decipher what he is all about these days. PS - Unquestionable Presence is also a classic, shame I only have it on vinyl and no record player anymore.

Ah, thanks for the Cynic page link Rolgat, most informative. Yeah I'm not a big Latin fan either, and by the look of those band photo's I don't think I'd be too whatever it is he's doing now..... Yeah I love Unquestionable Presence, mental music, Steve Flynn is a crazy man.... ;D I think the cd is still available, well worth getting, it's actually dated better than the Cynic cd I reckon, those vocoder vocals on the Cynic sound absolutely ridiculous now IMO, lucky the music is so good....

Ha!Ha! Although I don't mind the vocals as I still listen to "Focus" regularly, the production is also a bit on the thin and low side(my vinyl version sounded better than the CD). Yes, Steve Flynn is amazing - I feel "Elements" would have been far superior with his playing. I bought my tape copy in Florida when I was on holiday in 1993. The production on that is awful, but the songs are fantastic. Sometimes just to annoy my wife I'll play it in the car. I got a promo of the track "Elements" with Thrash 'n Burn and that was a great sound, maybe because it's on cassette? What do you think of Richard Christie's drumming?

Oh yeah, I was SOOOO dissappointed with Elements when it came out, when I saw that Steve Flynn wasn't on it I almost cried.... Yeah, the production on it is woeful compared with Unquestionable - so thin, and the bass is way too loud. The ideas are there though, there's some great grooves (ie. Mineral, my fave track on it) and the drumming by Marcell Dissantos is ok, but it's so hard not to compare to Flynn. I'm not sure if I'm familiar with Richard Christie's drumming, he played with Iced Earth yeah?

Yes, but also on the last Death album and also Control Denied. I have a DVD of DEATH"Live at Eindhoven" and he really drums like a maniac. Very much in the mould of Sean Reinert and Gene Hoglan but wilder.
