... is the name of the band I was referring to in the Soilwork thread.
A band also originating from Sweden. ;D
Real heavy rhythms, fast at times, powerful drumming and great solos.
Enormously talented members, featuring a female vocalist that sounds as unfemale as you can imagine.
They have a new album in the can. Until then, check out their previous album Wages of Sin.

Sounds good... except for the female vocalist. I've always hated metal with female vocalists. Then again, if you say she sounds as unfemale as one can imagine... Mmmh, I'll have to find some samples to listen to before I buy anything.

Mmmh, I'll have to find some samples to listen to before I buy anything. As I said, you cannot actually hear it's a woman "singing". If I hadn't known, I would bet my precious guitar it was a male... Okay, I downloaded a couple samples from the link you provided and, you're right, they're excellent! I have to say that I was a little skeptical when you told me we can't hear it's a woman singing... but, after listening to them, I'm in shock! How the hell can a woman sound that way?! I mean, it's not just the scratchy/rough voice, she really has a masculine tone to her voice! Incredible! I wish I could sing this way! ;D

Cool band, cool album. The female vocal is very well entered, though female it to name difficultly. Personally I extremely seldom find groups which it is possible to listen with big pleasure.

If you like the guitar work by Arch Enemy, but can't stand the Black Metal style growlings of Angela Gossaw (or even if you can!), then check out the side-project: Spiritual Beggars.
2002's 'On Fire' is awesome, male vocalist JB has a strong singing (true singing!) voice the like of which is born for metal, & the guitar work by Amott is the usual top notch class.
...and if the vocals of JB turn out to be your thing then try HIS main band, Grand Magus. Their album 'Monument' is a true Heavy Metal beast!

Arch Enemy is a very good band, and Angela is a good vocalist, but...I still prefer Pre-Angela Arch Enemy when they had Johann on vocals, in my opinion, he was much better than Angela.

Even her voice is cool, she really cannot "sing" in any other way. It gets pretty tedious, especially since the music is varied.
