I've got another tip 4 u (Carole): ;D Green by FORBIDDENis an awesome metal-record! Heavy guitars with great rhythm, great vocals + unbelievable drumming by Steven Jacobs. The only problem is that they're another dead group...

Another dead group? Meh! Can we still find their albums in the stores? Never heard of them... (then again, I had never heard of Grip Inc. either when you forced me to listen to them.) I'll have to see if I can find any MP3 samples of that band. I'll let you know what I think when I get a chance to hear them.
Thanks!

Green's cool, but Forbidden's best album is still 'Forbidden Evil', their first.

Hi, I never bought Green, but I have "Distortion", and that is a fine album. The vocals are a bit warbly at times, but very powerful. The guitars and drumming are sheer class.

Check out "Twisted into Form" as well ... if you can find it.
Take my word for it, Forbidden - solely on the strength of their first two albums - are one of the most underrated metal bands of ALL TIME.
"Through Eyes of Glass" is one of my personal Top 10 metal songs ever.

I'll let you know what I think when I get a chance to hear them. So have you heard them yet? I've heard one of their songs and saw part of a stage clip of theirs on a Hard 'n Heavy videotape. They seemed pretty awesome, with a great singer, and they were an equally great band, from what I've heard (meaning the press and fans). Always meant to get their stuff, but I've yet to do so. Oh well, I'll get around to them eventually.

So have you heard them yet? Well, I just woke up from a long hibernation period (which you help pulling me out of by sending me some Coroner stuff to put on the site ) So... no, I don't think I have listened to them yet (although I may have without knowing, while listening to my metal station on Yahoo Launch.) Kalle (RiffGod) had to send me many emails for me to finally listen to Grip Inc. -- his persistence paid off and I guess he knows what he has to do now ;D

Well, I just woke up from a long hibernation period (which you help pulling me out of by sending me some Coroner stuff to put on the site ) Glad to help! ;D Kalle (RiffGod) had to send me many emails for me to finally listen to Grip Inc. -- his persistence paid off and I guess he knows what he has to do now ;D Yeah, I do that too: when you know you're right, you're right! (Hence the story in my sig, since I got my friend Wes into Coroner...)

Kalle (RiffGod) had to send me many emails for me to finally listen to Grip Inc. -- his persistence paid off and I guess he knows what he has to do now ;D ;D Well, I don't know if I have the patience to go thru that again with you, Carole..! Currently, I'm of course more anxious to hear your thoughts on the new GRIP INC.-album!! (see GI thread) Good to hear you are back in the game of metal. I was beginning to worry if some evil force had lurked you into hip-hop or something.. Actually I do have another band-tip for you guys.. ;D I have just gotten into a band called OPETH (my god, they are also from Sweden!). Anyway, they are just so damn good it's scary! Great heavy (complex) music, real moody/mellow at times. Awesome singer (actually I have never heard anyone who can vary his voice like this guy!). Real melodic solos & tasty passages with complex chord-changes.. Some bits & pieces really does remind me of CORONER. I bought their Live DVD a while ago, and it is by far my most precious one right now (awesome photo + DTS sound)! Check 'em out, you won't regret it. www.opeth.comEnough tips for now.. /Kalle a.k.a. Good to hear you are back in the game of metal. I was beginning to worry if some evil force had lurked you into hip-hop or something.. Noooooooooooo! Call the metal paramedics (/police?) if that ever happens!! Scene: Carole's bedroom (or whatever room she keeps her stereo). A worried fellow headbanger is in there, along with several metal police and paramedics swarming the joint. Metal cop (to heavy metal bystander): You the guy who made the call? Metal bystander: Yes, please help her! Carole (staring into space and rambling): Snoop Dog! Prince! The Backstreet Boys! Most go to Wal-Mart for cds... Metal paramedic: Quick, get the METAL I. V.!!! Carole: Must take down Coroner web site... Metal bystander: HURRY!!!!! (Carole is chained down to a chair and administered headphones, along with cds of Coroner, Grip Inc., Cannibal Corpse, etc...whatever the hell works! Then twenty minutes later...) Carol: Whew...that sucked! Metal bystander: I can't thank you guys enough! Metal paramedic: No problem. She would just face ridicule and be shunned from her metal friends for the rest of her life! Anyway... have just gotten into a band called OPETH (my god, they are also from Sweden!). Anyway, they are just so damn good it's scary! But of course... Great heavy (complex) music, real moody/mellow at times. Awesome singer (actually I have never heard anyone who can vary his voice like this guy!).You probably haven't heard Sabbat's final album of Mourning Has Broken then, as the guy on that one (Ritchie Desmond, I think his name was) could do the brutal growls, all the way to singing as high up as King Diamond! Makes me wonder what happened to him after they broke up, he was pretty damn good! Some bits & pieces really does remind me of CORONER.
So then, that's one of the many things that makes them good then! Enough tips for now..Heh, there's a few of mine to check out on the "ever freak anyone out..." thread, like Bal-Sagoth, Therion, Candlemass (Coroner played with 'em before ), and Bethzaida, to name a few...I'd recommend any of them, along with Disharmonic Orchestra as well, and all of them sound totally different too!

Me? Listening to hip-hop crap?? Is that what Hell is supposed to be like? And, yeah, I certainly hope someone would rescue me if that ever had to happen ;D Which reminds me something my mom, who's very much into music (although it's more jazz than metal) said when I was about 15: "You'll grow out of it, and start listening to more mature music as time goes..." WELL?? No! Quite the contrary, as I joyfully went from Kiss to Coroner and the like ;D And actually, what happened is that my mom grew to appreciate some of the metal I've been feeding her ears with in the last 25 years So, about Forbidden's Green: I just went to Amazon and listened ( finally) to the available first five song's 30-second samples -- now that was easy... no need to put poor Kalle through all that trouble again ;D Anyway, what I've heard kind of reminded me of the Machine Head's "changing days" (The Red album), with still a firm foot in the good old stuff. The song "Face Down Heroes" seemed promising, at least from the pitiful 30 seconds I was able to listen to -- very Machine-Headish, IMO (which I love.) I have to listen to Opeth too... I have them rated highly in my Yahoo Launch radio thing, but never fully paid attention. Which album should I focus on to start with?

Me? Listening to hip-hop crap?? Is that what Hell is supposed to be like? Ha ha! Yeah, I imagine, or they have all the accordian players down there, one (or both) of the two ;D Which reminds me something my mom, who's very much into music (although it's more jazz than metal) said when I was about 15: "You'll grow out of it, and start listening to more mature music as time goes..." WELL?? No! Yeah, people like that are ANNOYING. I'm like "hey, I've been listening to that since HIGH SCHOOL (over ten years now)", and the stuff just keeps on getting heavier and heavier! (i. e. from the hair/commercial metal to death/black metal and grindcore...nyeh! )
