I just checked and they're still listed to play here on 4/22/05! Woohoo! Sorry Carole, they seem to have changed that now. You'd better prepare for a ride to Cleveland on May 6..far, was it? I will definitely travel to Stockholm or Gothenburg to see them, and that's 200 resp. 300 km.

Well, CRAP!! For once there was a band I love playing in my town! And the Alrosa Villa hasn't even closed... they just seem to have mostly local bands now, though. Damn damn damn... and I was hoping they'd try to play at the other Columbus club, but no That sucks.

No wonder I thought there were still playing in Columbus: the Pollstar site is still showing that date as valid! But I checked on the Soilwork site and... bah So it seems we will indeed be going to Cleveland instead. That's about 140 miles (225 km) -- not even as much as you, so I shouldn't complain Anyway, Soilwork is well worth it! Oh! And I saw they are headlining this tour! Woohoo! Last time we went to see them in Cleveland, they only played for about 40 minutes -- long drive for such a short show, but still worth it of course. I hope they play all night this time! ;D

Well, I know of this guys but i am not a fan. But have you listened to NIGHT IN GALES "Towards the Twilight" album (1997)? Pretty much good stuff there But don't search for the other albums - they are too weak...
Oh, and try of DOMINION CALIGULA - it'll like you esp. if you're a SAMAEL fan

The new Soilwork, "Stabbing The Drama" is excellent. Even better than expected. We will get to see them at least twice this year, at the Cleveland show and in Columbus at Ozzfest. 'Can't wait

Carole, are you in Columbus as well? Interesting. I've been here since May 2000. Speaking of the Al Rosa, if I hadn't forgotten about the Damageplan show there would've been a 60% I would've been there that night. Good thing I wasn't!

If we knew they were just 15 minutes up the road, rabid, exploding yaks couldn't have stopped us from going. I still get sick when I think of what happened here.
Wait...you are in Cols. too? It looks like I will get to see your Rush tribute if you play out...cool.

Wow, another local on here! Sorry, I just kind of browsed this thread and saw Carole's response. If you mentioned you were from here I missed it. Would love to have anyone from here come check us out once we're ready to play somewhere.
Back to the topic at hand, I haven't heard of this band before. Can you describe them at all?

Describe Soilwork? My pleasure; Comitted, heavy, progressive, controlled chaos. Every song keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what the next musical passage will bring. The kind of music that one can become very obssessive about. Like Coroner, they create intense, unbelievable music that will immediately make you into a fan. They are like all the good extreme metal bands rolled into one. As Carole mentioned, Natural Born Chaos is a great place to start.

Carole, are you in Columbus as well? Interesting. Yes, in Columbus for the last 5 years. Let us know when your band plays around here! As for Soilwork, all that Greenman said and more! They also have a very rich sound that I can now associate with them. Their music is very heavy and very elaborate, with some solos, harmonies... I've read somewhere that their style is called "melodic death metal" -- all I know is that their music grabbed me like Coroner's did. You can view a video clip of the song "Stabbing The Drama", from their latest album, and listen to some other songs on their official web site: www.soilwork.org/ (click the Download link once there.) Natural Born Chaos is one of my favorite metal albums of all times!

I will definitely let you know when we play. Maybe be another 2 or 3 months but hopefully not too much longer than that.
I'll check out this band when I get a chance. They sound pretty good to me!
