In all these years I'd never heard anything about this, and I suspect that this will be news to most of you guys too! I saw a new submission on Discogs and thought they must have tagged the wrong Coroner www.discogs.com/P-27-Coroner-Run-Baby-Run/release/7946617but no, it's the real Coroner all right: youtu.be/48amdbSe9dA?t=1m31s( In that link I've skipped the beginning else you'll think you've got the wrong band then sit back in amazement as the Coroner part kicks in - I nearly fell off my chair thinking WTF!?? how/what/when/why? 1994!! WTF!?? how/what/when/why? Hang on, I've got to go play it again.....

I will be the first to admit the the guys in Coroner have a way broader musical taste than I have To me the rap parts of this are absolute utter unmitigated shite, but I do love that Coroner chorus... On the cd is listed an instrumental version - now if someone could mash that up with the Coroner vocals from this one... and kinda make a whole song out of just the Coroner contribution.. then maybe...

I will be the first to admit the the guys in Coroner have a way broader musical taste than I have I assume that Marky would be the one that had something to do with it, since the stuff he performed on during his non-Coroner days mostly wasn't metal. Think I found out why this is only just now coming to light after all these years: clickyP-27 only came out with three albums, being a Swiss rap group and (I assume) never breaking a worldwide audience. I haven't found much else about them (I haven't had much of a chance to look around yet) but I suspect that's why there won't be any interviews or anything of the like that would immediately answer this a bit better, like: Interviewer: Not only were you the first rap group ever to perform lyrics in Swiss/German, it's also not very common to employ thrash metal in a recording, like you did with Coroner. Tell us how that came about.Group member: How P-27 and Coroner got together was due to blah blah whatever...

I'm perhaps less surprised by the partnership (perhaps they were friends who decided to do a project together) than I am about the fact that I don't remember hearing anything about it in the metal press at the time. I would have expected it to have been widely reported since everyone was eagerly awaiting the follow-up to Grin at that point, and this release was on EMI, not some tiny independent label, but I'd never heard as much as a rumour about this collaboration before.
I no longer have any old mags or cuttings from '94 to check either, perhaps someone else does?

I don't have a big library of old metal mags, but I never heard of this (until now), much less have a clip of it or else I would have sent it in to Carol ages ago to put up on here (I sent her everything else that was Coroner-related that I have).
By the way, congrats for putting up possibly THE strangest Coroner post on here ever!

That's exactly how I felt !
I sort of remember that there wasn't much news from them whilst they were having problems with Noise, so I'm amazed this wasn't leapt upon, particularly since it would have such a big deal to do something so radical back then.
Perhaps it was a good thing it was suppressed, they could have been ripped apart by certain sections of the metal press tearing into them like Celtic Frost got over 'Cold Lake'
Makes me wonder what else is still out there undiscovered !

In french metal press, summer'94, marky said during an interview:
"We have just recorded with P.27, a hip-hop swiss band; the song we wrote for this split have a hardcore/skate-punk orientation, in fact; we alternate the interventions: they have their parts and we have ours; Otherwise it's a true band: 2 rappers, a D.J., and they are surrounded by jazzmen; This is not only sampling!"
This 4 tracks cd was realeased in 1994 only in switzeland market and I got a brand new one in '96. I posted to the site (and I saw it) the picture coroner/P.27 on the facebook/pictures gallery

Thanks for that. That's why we didn't hear much about it, being a Swiss-only release.
