My CD arrived yesterday and not only are the tracks remastered which is a nice surprise ( 2014 Remaster by Anders Peterson /GS Mastering ) but the booklet has some cool liner notes from Marky that I thought ppl here might find interesting too...

We recorded our first and only demo tape called "Death Cult" in a small studio in the cellar of an old farmhouse near Lake Zurich called Magnetix, in October 1985.
Since Ron had not decided to take over the vocals yet and I could barely speak English, it was good luck for us when our friend, Celtic Frost's Tom G. Warrior offered to write the lyrics for 3 songs as well as taking over the vocals. I remember having a lot of fun during the recordings.

I recorded the radio voice in the beginning with a special receiver on which you can listen to airtraffic control. it's the voice of an unknown pilot flying over Zurich. At the end he said six six, so we added another six for the 666.

On Aerial Combat, the instrumental, Tom operated Tommy's tremelo during taping. That's only possible with 3 hands! I think our influences on this record are very apparent, such as Mercyful Fate on "Spectators Of Sin" or Black Sabbath on "The Invincible".

I did the cover picture myself at home. At the time I was going to Art School to learn Graphic Design

While Tommy and I went (on) a North American tour with Celtic Frost and Voivod as roadies a year later, we handed the tape to all journalists coming to the shows, so we were already known in the USA before we were signed to a record company. This happened in the same year, as we signed a contract with Noise Records.

"Final Excertion" was recorded during a pre-production session at the Dynamo studio in Zurich and produced by Flavio Vigne. The songtitle was later changed into "Shadow of a Lost Dream" on our second album "Punishment For Decadence". The pre-production came out surprisingly good and some say it sounds better than the final studio version on the record.

well I own it already with the Zeche Carl stuff 1988. But still awesome!
