Hello everyone, I play bass and discovered (too) recently the great band that is Coroner. I really like the song Masked Jackal, and I was curious how old Ron Royce was when they recorded this song! Just to know if I should switch to flute right away, or if I still have a couple of years ahead to get closer to his level Thanks for your answers!

I don't know there age too, but looking at the picture that came with "Death Cult" i'm guessing they where about 20/21 years old. And that was in 1985 !!!
BTW how old are you? If you really want to get to the level of masked jackal.....you can !!

BTW how old are you? If you really want to get to the level of masked jackal.....you can !! I'll be 27 in October. I fix to play most of the song, but the part that comes right after the solo goes way too fast for me :/ What a surprise!.. not. I'm trying to increase my speed and endurance using a 3 finger technique for the right hand. It's in progress, but f#ck, It takes months to gain a few bpm's!! Or maybe it's just me being gay Some advice, bassist fellows? PS: Still waiting for official data regarding their age

Or maybe it's just me being gay Some advice, bassist fellows? What sort of 3 finger technique are you using? If you're comfortable and fairly quick with 2 finger technique something like 1232 1232 1232 (where 1 is your index finger, 2 is your middle finger and 3 is your ring finger) should give you a bit of a speed boost and make it easy to stick to 16th notes as opposed to triplets. A few months back when I was learning to play Masked Jackal and used tab, I was able to keep up (for the most part) using that technique. To see some nice examples, check out Steve Bailey. A light touch certainly comes a long way, but I doubt Ron played with a light touch! Speaking of, does anyone know what sort of pattern he uses or if he does indeed use 3 fingers? I've noticed a few people say he uses 3 fingers, but it's a bit tough to tell from the live videos and it looks like most of his fingers move when he plays (Like Steve Harris who apparently plays with 2 fingers).

When I got their Death Cult Lodge booklets in 1989 one of them said the following: Marky (24), Ron (24) and Tommy (22), so it looks like they were born 1965, 1965, and 1967 respectively...
