Heh, Carole's going to end up regretting putting up this general thread (but I have to do this with EVERY forum I'm on! ), due to this being one of the very first posts on here ;D Don't worry, not ALL of my non-music posts will be this big though! Since I just got on board here last weekend (signed up on Friday the 13th, muhahhaha!), I don't really know anybody yet...but do YOU really know everyone either? I'll bet you don't! So, with that in mind, feel free to add or delete whatever parts you like. The new person shall go first: Name: Witchfynde Real name: Darryl Other internet alias': Witchfinder General, FatalRewind, Darryl B. Place of Origin/Currently living in: Houston, Texas Sex: currently not enough...oh, THAT sex! Well, I'm a male dude! Occupation/work interests: Career transition/resumes, but I mostly temp and do contract work in the meantime, just doing general office stuff Interests: I have a rare illness that currently limits things (a lack of money is another factor), so most of the following is in regards to things I either used to do or would like to take up once I'm well and/or have money coming in: drumming, biking, indoor rock climbing, bowling, movies, writing (songwriting, mostly), women of all shapes, races and sizes (except for those in the "Lardbutt" and over category) Dislikes: liars, backstabbers, people who don't listen to THE simplest thing after it's been explained 500 times, Houston's god-awful heat 90% of the year, Willard Scott Favorite movie of all time: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Runners up: True Believer (my previous "favorite movie of all time" for 12 years until Rings came out), all Star Wars (some more than others), The Fugitive, Toy Story (both), The Iron Giant (ruled!!!!), City Slickers, Keeping the Faith, Freaky Friday (2003 version, believe it or not...man, that was damn funny!) and Rumble in the Bronx for their hilarity, Titanic, RoboCop (THE best cyborg movie EVER made...NOTHING has matched the action, ideas, etc. since), Holes (just hang in there after the first 10 minutes, it's pretty stupid, but it gets WAY better afterwards), The Ring (American remake, haven't seen Japanese original yet), 28 Days Later (MAN that was scary! "Horror" movies hardly *ever* scare me, but that one did!) Currently watches: Star Trek Enterprise (more or less, I currently don't have a tv), King of the Hill, Just Shoot Me (just cancelled last year, actually) All time favorite tv shows: Babylon 5 (despite the low budget, the BEST sci-fi series EVER!!), The Critic (too bad it didn't last any more than two seasons), Reboot, Night Court, Red Green (PBS), Hill Street Blues, Married...With Morons (uh, CHILDREN, that is!) What?! There's other places than this Coroner site? (Other internet places of personal interest) www.classicgaming.com I've written several of their Game Museum articles (as Witchfinder General). www.atariage.com If you want to get rid of old games, sell or trade, it's not just all Atari, you can also deal with Vectrex, Intellivision, various personal computers, Colecovision, PC, etc. games as well. I made over 20 transactions there myself and only two of them were delayed--one my fault; whups, the other, due to weather delay (what is this "snow" stuff I hear about? Those of us in Texas don't understand this myth )--with barely a hitch. Just beware of people with crappy attitudes in the off-topic forums and all! www.imdb.com The Internet Movie DataBase has all kinds of stuff in regards to movies and tv; best part are the Goofs in movies that you didn't realize, the bad part is a lot of mistakes and bad info going around, so don't believe everything you read. I'm also an administrator at a friend's heavy metal site; just send me a PM if you're interested in joining. I would say his site also has over 60 metal reviews (most done by myself, and I've got lots more to do!), which are open to contributions, but that part of his site is gone for the moment as he searches around for a new dot com to store them (new provider won't give any more than five megs of space; whoopie!). So what do I look like anyway? If you go to the second page of this thread, third post from the top, you'll see a picture of me and my former, uh, "tools" (don't worry, it's work safe; you'll see what I mean!). (And a current photo just taken in the last year can be seen here: members.bluefrog.com/~haller/emdpics.html, as Darryl B.) So what do I SOUND like then?If you go here www.forumplanet.com:80/classicgaming/topic.asp?fid=4566&tid=974080&p=1, and click on the link on post #10, that's me, but I don't have a deep, sexy voice or anything; sorry. True pieces of personal trivia: I wasn't born with what's commonly called "webbed feet", but two toes on each foot never fully separated. (Don't know what it's called--I was told it once and forgot [should've written it down, I guess]--need to Google...) I'm not left-handed, but I do several things with my left hand, like eat left-handed, use the tv remotes, and play some old video games (like Scramble) left-handed that have buttons on both sides of the joystick (my mom's right-handed, but my dad left, so that's where I got it from). I have very excellent hearing; don't let the small ears fool you! You remember that HORRIBLE Y2K incident when everything went to hell and the human race almost totally annihilated itself? Oh, that's right, nothing really happened. This is a fact, though: I actually own a piece of machinery that was affected by the Y2K bug. My vcr can't record programs anymore...which I noticed 10 days AFTER 2000 hit, so there's no way it could've been anything else, as all it's other functions still work. I can still record manually but the timer doesn't work anymore. So when it eventually dies I'm going to keep it since it's a museum piece. About myself, in a nutshell: Kind of hard to describe yourself, you know? I like being by myself (especially with my current living situation, as I had to move back in with my parents)/am independent (somewhat), computers, gadgets, and games, drumming, MUSIC IS LIFE!! It would take five pages to describe all the kinds of music I have, so I won't bother (just to BARELY tap into it involves from heavy metal with folk to heavy metal with opera to dark ambient to new age to Indian music to video game music [yeah, I know! Go figure!], etc.). Looooove digital photography! Even though I'll never work in the legal field again I will probably always have an interest in law. Love animals, especially dogs and cats. I've also been published as a local writer, mostly as a movie critic, and would like to get back into songwriting again. Guess that's about it...

Well well well... looks like Darryl has some time on his hands! I'll borrow some of yours to reply, if you don't mind. I even added a few topics. And, no, I won't regret adding this board, although I doubt there will be many more posters. Hey, you don't have a Texan accent! At least I don't think. My "boss" is from the Houston area too, and he speaks like "one of those"... Anyway, my turn... Real name: Carole Other internet alias': Ratqueen, BPSCoCTec (work) Place of Origin/Currently living in: Born in Lausanne, Switzerland -- lived there until I was almost 30. Moved to the US (Michigan) in Dec. 1993, and currently living in Ohio. I miss Switzerland -- Land of Coroner First/Other Languages: French, English (I learned German in school, but I forgot it all.) Sex: Yes, and even though I don't have the typical interests that go with the gender, I'm female. Occupation/work interests: Originally doing boring phone/office crap back then in Switzerland. Now working from home as a webmaster / technical writer (writing help files) for a small software company that makes add-on programs for AOL. This is my office: www.bpssoft.comInterests: computers (I actually have silicon running in my veins -- sounds a step higher than "nerd", right? , books, computer games (mostly strategy games,) board games, music, camping, the outdoors, writing (anything,) animals (and rats in particular,) astronomy, prehistory, evolution, humor (even if it's dark, and especially if it's "wrong" ) movies, science, science-fiction, amusement parks... Dislikes: hypocrisy (and yeah, liars, backstabbers AND cheaters go right along with it!) work, religion, wasting time, wasting money, fashion, dancing, close-minded people, politically-correct bullsh*t, pigeons (they purposefully walk with wooden shoes in your attic if you let them!) the sight of an open refridgerator door (it will take HOURS for it to get cold again, dammit!) Best quality: Truthfulness. Worst fault: Laziness. A skill you wish you had: play the guitar. A thing you hope you'll get to do some day: write a novel. Favorite movie of all time: Ooh... mmmh... maybe "Soylent Green." Runners up: Planet Of The Apes (the first one,) The Exorcist (only horror movie to really scare me,) Jurassic Park, Alien, Close Encounter of the Third Kind, One Flew Over a Cuckoo's Nest, The Shining (the one with Nickolson,) Mad Max, The Time Machine, Forbidden Planet, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut... I'm probably forgetting tons. Currently watches: South Park, The King Of Queens, Trading Spouses. All time favorite TV shows: Yeah! Babylon 5 was great! I have all episodes recorded on tape! I don't watch a whole lot of TV... I used to watch Third Rock From the Sun and Fear Factor regularly. There are other American series I used to watch while still living in Switzerland, but I don't know their English titles... Favorite novel of all time: "Replay", by Ken Grimwood. Runners up: "Pet Sematary" by Stephen King, "Misery" by Stephen King, "Watchers" by Dean Koontz, "Survivor" by Robert Steele Gray. Other internet places of personal interest:That's funny, it all started with an Atari STF for me -- it had a whole 1024 KB of RAM and no hard disk!! I often feel nostalgic about all those old games I discovered on the Atari (and later on the Amiga, and later on the PC.) So I visit these sites every now and then: www.atari.st/www.mobygames.com/ (I contributed quite a bit on this one.) RKC Petz Forum: That's my other forum -- the "active" one, with close to 1000 members. I started it a year ago. It all revolves around a computer game named "Petz", which is about virtual dogz and catz (people breed them, show them... it's all very silly and childish.) The average age on that forum is 11-16, and I'm definitely the oldest one there (I just brought my green smilies from that forum actually -- don't have the time and energy to make them a less sickening color, sorry...) Writing.com: I love to read, and it's fun to read what "regular people" write. Happy Tree Friends: Like they say on the site: "Not recommended for small children or big babies". Simply HILARIOUS!! What do I look like?In the first picture, I'm the one with the long brown hair, NOT the one with the short black and white hair! Bonus note: I have a butterfly tattooed on my left shoulder (What in hell went through my mind that day?? I wish it was a rat instead!!) What do I SOUND like?No sound sample available at this time, but they (Americans) say I have a French accent... My family, however, says I now have an American accent. Go figure!

Well well well... looks like Darryl has some time on his hands! Yah THINK? ;D I'll borrow some of yours to reply, if you don't mind. Oh, sure, like I said, use, skip, or add whatever you want! And, no, I won't regret adding this board It's too early to say! Time might tell otherwise! ;D Hey, you don't have a Texan accent! At least I don't think. Nope. (That's what was also said on that site where I gave the link to it...had some pretty funny comments too!) Houston's not hillbilly country though, although a lot of people think it's like that, but I don't think anyone actually *from* here sounds like that. ('Course, people can say what they want, I hate it here...) My "boss" is from the Houston area too, and he speaks like "one of those"... Wow, small world! Place of Origin/Currently living in: Born in Lausanne, Switzerland -- lived there until I was almost 30. Moved to the US (Michigan) in Dec. 1993, and currently living in Ohio. Man, how'd you get from there to here? Sex: Yes, and even though I don't have the typical interests that go with the gender, I'm female. Sounds like Dana of Mythic, the first all-female death metal band ever, how she relates to guys better than girls. I've been trying to get her to do an interview at my friend's web site, but have yet to hear back yet. the sight of an open refridgerator door (it will take HOURS for it to get cold again, dammit!) Problem with a roommate, or significant other, I take it? All time favorite TV shows: Yeah! Babylon 5 was great! I have all episodes recorded on tape! Very cool! ;D Other internet places of personal interest:That's funny, it all started with an Atari STF for me -- it had a whole 1024 KB of RAM and no hard disk!! I often feel nostalgic about all those old games I discovered on the Atari (and later on the Amiga, and later on the PC.) Here's another one then: www.ataritimes.comThey've got some reviews and articles up on the Atari computer lines. I've sent in a ton of reviews myself, but those were all consoles only (Atari 2600, 7800, and arcade). If you want to contribute some computer game reviews that they don't have, you can even snag a little bit of extra money from them, as Greg pays $2 a review. Happy Tree Friends: Like they say on the site: "Not recommended for small children or big babies". Simply HILARIOUS!! Funny, I was just introduced to that site last week...yuck! Other internet alias': Ratqueen, BPSCoCTec (work) Interests: animals (and rats in particular,) What do I look like?In the first picture, I'm the one with the long brown hair, NOT the one with the short black and white hair! Bonus note: I have a butterfly tattooed on my left shoulder (What in hell went through my mind that day?? I wish it was a rat instead!!) I was *wondering* what the deal was with rat this, rat that, ratratratratratratrat ;D No sound sample available at this time, but they (Americans) say I have a French accent... My family, however, says I now have an American accent. Go figure! I think it depends on your environment, since I hung out (very briefly) with a guy at my first apartment complex who had the typical Texan accent, and if you hang out with people long enough, you start talking like them too!

Since I just got on board here last weekend (signed up on Friday the 13th, muhahhaha!) ...I was BORN on Fri 13th (no, really!). he,he Anyhows, I've been merrily posting away without even the decency of introducing myself, so here's me: Name: Sirius13 Real name: Rick Other internet alias': Just Sirius13 & Rick at the moment. I obviously need more IDs!! Place of Origin/Currently living in: UK Sex: Male, recently engaged... Occupation/work interests: I lead a Software Test team. Dull business software, I'm afraid. Interests: Composing dodgy music that is way beyond my abilities to perform (most of it is way beyond my ability to compose too!! ;D), reading fantasy fiction (George RR Martin, Tad Williams, Janny Wurtz, Stephen Donaldson etc), used to do loads of cycling & I'm determined to get back into it! Gettin' into the mountains & being chill. And of course METAL!!! Dislikes: False Metal!! Favorite movie of all time: Movies always seem to disappoint! The Lord of the Rings was damn good though, so I'll go for Return of the K. ...The Iron Giant is cool though, Witchfynde is so right there. Currently watches: A dodgy UK show called 'Public Opinion' where celebrities get sucked into revealing too much about how they think. I'd avoid crap like that normally, but it's done so well and with such subtlety... What?! There's other places than this Coroner site? (Other internet places of personal interest) www.theprovenance.com The only other band site where I'll be seen, I can't get enough of 'em, don't forget to check out the MP3's in the recordings section... The Prov ROCK!! ...er, that's it for regular sites. I intend to write my own first attempt at a site soon, compiling reviews of every album I've paid good money for!! But that may never happen! So what do I look like anyway?I look like this: Favourite place: I went to Iceland earlier this year and it was totally fantastic! Everyone was real friendly (I'm no extrovert, so if I noticed, then they must be REAL friendly!) The landscapes were amazing and wonderfully varied, if you ever get the chance to go, just do it!! ;D ...er, but be warned - it's expensive as HELL!! My finances are still in recovery!

...I was BORN on Fri 13th (no, really!). he,he Sh*t! Too many concidences here, as far as similar music tastes and all! ;D Interests: Composing dodgy music that is way beyond my abilities to perform (most of it is way beyond my ability to compose too!! ;D) Yeah, I want to get into that too, once I eventually get an up-to-date computer (the one I use for the internet and digital photography isn't mine, mine is a DOS-only computer!), since I can only play two instruments (drums and vocals, and for the non-musically inclined, yes, vocals ARE an instrument!), neither of which has much place in new age (only vocals I can do are death/mucus vocals) and dark ambient, both of which I'd like to try to take a stab at doing (HAVE to have a computer for that, since I can't play anything else that is required for that kind of music [acoustic guitar, flute, etc...everything else would have to be fake!]). ...The Iron Giant is cool though, Witchfynde is so right there. Yeah, that was killer! (That was more of the stuff that I lost with my storage unit, though: Iron Giant poster, figure [still sealed] and mechanical, talking bank ) ...er, that's it for regular sites. I intend to write my own first attempt at a site soon, compiling reviews of every album I've paid good money for!! But that may never happen! If not, and you're still interested in that, I could give out the address of a site me and a friend run...the reviews have been offline for months now, though, since my friend is very slow in finding a dot com to get them back up (the site he uses for *his* metal forum only grants a whopping 5 megs of space, which, with my [usually] lengthy reviews plus album cover photos, took up that space in no time at all).

Guess I'll do this as well... Name: GlidingAbove Real name: Bob Other internet alias': Mental Vortex, ColumbusSteelerFan, and a few others over the years Place of Origin/Currently living in: Currently in Columbus, Ohio. Born in Detroit, Michigan. Lived also in Rochester, New York and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Sex: Male Occupation/work interests: Network Administrator Interests: Music (listening and playing), sports, travelling, and some other stuff Dislikes: People with no common sense and no sense of humor. I'm sure I'll think of more later! Favorite movie of all time: Hmm, good question. Tie between Better Off Dead and Caddyshack if I had to pick something. Runners up: Blues Brothers, the "original" three Star Wars movies, Pump Up The Volume, The Lost Boys, American Gothic Currently watches: E.R. (although my wife and I both agree it's pretty much had its run), Who's Line Is It Anyway? All time favorite tv shows: All In The Family, Cheers, Keeping Up Appearances, Monty Python, a few others What?! There's other places than this Coroner site? (Other internet places of personal interest) Well, Witchfynde already mentioned the site where he found me, www.atariage.com, so I'll have see what else is there... www.pittsburghlive.com - Still a 'Burgh resident at heart (and might move back there someday), so I'll frequent the sports forums on there www.easytree.org - looking for live recordings or videos of your favorite artist? Easily the best bit torrent site out there for finding them. So what do I look like anyway? Hrrm, I'll get a decent picture up here later. So what do I SOUND like then? How about my guitar playing? I can get that up here sometime later this week. True pieces of personal trivia: Using the old "Kevin Bacon six degrees of separation" theory, I can do this in six steps or less to the following - A major league baseball hall of famer A Heisman trophy winner and former NFL quarterback The following artists - Ozzy Osbourne, Deep Purple, The Scorpions, Black Sabbath, No Doubt, and a few others Recorded a self-released CD with the Pittsburgh band Templar (now called Order of Nine) in 1999, and opened for Flotsam and Jetsam the same year (my claim to fame, wahoo!) Other than that, I enjoy spending time with my wife, our dog, cat, two rabbits, friends and family. I'm also working with a drummer to form a Rush tribute band. First rehearsal is this coming Tuesday, so we'll see what happens. I just wish Geddy didn't sing so damn high! It'd make my job a little easier

Favorite movie of all time: Hmm, good question. Tie between Better Off Dead That movie was pretty different Funny, I was just thinking about it last week, for some reason. Well, Witchfynde already mentioned the site where he found me, www.atariage.com, so I'll have see what else is there... A very rare Telesys catalog *should* be going up this weekend, which I scanned and sent to Albert ;D So there's one of many, many, many, many additions to that huge-assed site ;D I just wish Geddy didn't sing so damn high! It'd make my job a little easier Wow, you sound pretty talented!

Wow, you sound pretty talented! Heh, thanks. Guitar player of 20+ years, bass for about 15, with some keyboards and drums thrown in, though not as well as the first two. I've been in bands since I was about 13, so I've been at it for a while. Actually, speaking of Rush, I noticed an interesting similiarity that Coroner has with them. Besides the obvious (trio, bass player sings), in both bands, the drummer usually writes the words and the other two members write the music. Kind of interesting to me anyway.

with some keyboards and drums thrown in, though not as well as the first two. What kind of drum set do you use, or do you not own one? I used to have Pearl (lost it over the summer), which you can see a pic of my set in the link to Atari Age (as long as you're signed in, they only just now started doing that a few weeks ago. So I can't use that link any more!). Actually, speaking of Rush, I noticed an interesting similiarity that Coroner has with them. Besides the obvious (trio, bass player sings), in both bands, the drummer usually writes the words and the other two members write the music. Kind of interesting to me anyway. Really, I didn't notice that either, but I'm not much on comparing Coroner with Rus--errr, ANYBODY!

Drums...just your basic Pearl 7-piece kit. Used, nothing fancy, just something for me to beat on and record demos every now and then. Nice to have in case anyone comes over and wants to jam.
Speaking of jamming, tonight I jammed with the drummer who put out the ad for the Rush tribute band and a bass player that responded (I played guitar and sang). Played for about an hour and a half and it went pretty well. So we'll see what happens with it.
