Good to see a steady flow of new members. We have just cracked 350! Maybe Meatwagon should get some kind of prize....
On the new CF.... it does indeed kick much arse! I reckon it's better than their old stuff, but I've always been biased towards progression. Only a couple of songs sound like the old CF, which may explain the negative reviews. But don't worry, the new sound is MUCH heavier than anything they've done before. My god, it's almost the heaviest, darkest thing I've ever heard!... without being extreme for extremities sake, like a lot of shite that's around these days.
BTW I have to disagree with Witchfynde, there's no point making the same album twice; without progression there is only stagnation and death, the art of it has gone. I wouldn't call the material on "Coroner" mellow, apart from the ambient passages the new material was slower and therefore HEAVIER (see CF's Monotheist and you will know what I mean, Tom knows what he is doing even though Martin et al don't always agree).
But I digress... welcome aboard Meatwagon!
All hail Coroner, the greatest band that never made it big!
And fuck Slayer for their populist repetition. Dave should have stayed out.

Thanks for the welcome, glad I found this site. I really dug the "new" songs on the self titled CD. I sensed an even darker path for Coroner at that time. they were at thier creative peak. yes, it was slow, but I thought that it was a sweet, kinda like...... bleeding to death feeling. sheer HEAVINESS!!! I loved it! I know that had it been finished, the follow up to Grin would have been Coroners "show pony." at least for awhile. it seems as though even great artists like Coroner start to decline in creativity as time passes. who the fuck is this band that now calls themselves Metallica? hello Dave Mustaine. what happened man? to much H? ? couldn't agree more with the Slayer comment posted by rehabitat. and the list goes on and on.....

On the new CF.... it does indeed kick much arse! I reckon it's better than their old stuff, but I've always been biased towards progression. Only a couple of songs sound like the old CF, which may explain the negative reviews. I don't know what the negative reviews are especially, since I haven't looked up and read what the specifics are, just heard a few things here and there... But don't worry, the new sound is MUCH heavier than anything they've done before. My god, it's almost the heaviest, darkest thing I've ever heard!... Yeah, I've seen the video for "Dying God Coming Into Human Flesh", or whatever it's called, and aside from the clean vocals, I was going 'CRAP that's heavy!' BTW I have to disagree with Witchfynde, there's no point making the same album twice; without progression there is only stagnation and death, the art of it has gone. I don't recall where I said they had to, much less DID, make the same album twice (especially since I don't believe that anyway), they all sounded a little different. I wouldn't call the material on "Coroner" mellow, Well, maybe I should have worded that differently, as compared to the majority of their previous material, it seemed like they were mellowing a little bit: I wouldn't say the stuff on their last album was any heavier than anything on Vortex, Color, Punishment or R. I. P., because, in my opinion, it wasn't. Not that I'm complaining though, just a thought. It was about AS heavy as anything on Grin, but anything before that? I didn't think so. And fuck Slayer for their populist repetition. Eh, I've liked all of the Slayer cds that I've got, but I don't have every single one of them, nor shall I ever, either. If there's something of theirs that I heard that I don't like, I won't get it (like hearing a couple of those punk covers from that all-cover album that they did [the name of which escapes me for the moment], I didn't care for those too much, so I won't get that one, for instance).

it seems as though even great artists like Coroner start to decline in creativity as time passes. Yeah, it happens in pretty much any entertainment field: the Star Wars movies, Rob Serling, who wrote the original Twilight Zone series and a crapload of other stuff, had his writing go downhill (covering all kinds of genres, not just the "unusual"), Steven King, Dave Barry not being funny for a while before he quit (hate to admit it, since I'm a bit of a Barry fan, but it's true ), video game companies putting out crap, etc., etc. Um, I'll shut up now, this might get depressing ;D Post some more, Meatwagon!

It's good to see Coroner is still close to many metal heads hearts. ;D They've never left mine, and they never will. Being a guitar player for 20 years now, I'm currently putting a band together that's going to play Coroner covers. I've been in so many Slayer/Metallica/Death Angel - ripp off bands that I'd like to take it to thé next level. ( This time, it will be my way ) It's a challenge for sure, but I'm very exited. ;D Yesterday i asked a few musicians whom I'd like to work with and got a positive response. ( But then again, they are musicians ) I hope around this time next year we're going to fly, while others still walk...

stillplaying said it well: "It's good to see Coroner is still close to many metal heads hearts. They've never left mine, and they never will."
No matter how much new metal I get into, I always end up going back to these guys....I just wish they could put it back together now that metal is back in the rotation. I bet they could sell more cd's now than they did in their heyday.

First of all, i don't want to set this board on fire but yesterday night at the Cynic gig in Paris, talking with some people there, someone told me that a promoter was trying to book dates for Coroner!!!! I was a bit sceptical about that as it was stated by the band that they won't come back...but why not after all? Is this the famous project Tommy and Peter Haas are cooking? Time will tell...

Oh yeah not wanting to set this board on fire? Right... ....... Well, i think i'll just go on like i used to, they'll get there when they'll get there. And then i'll be on fire. In the mean time, i'll just keep playing those records and rehearse my fingers to the bone. But when they get there....DO NOT FORGET TO TELL US!

I bet they could sell more cd's now than they did in their heyday. Well, i think your right. A lot of people in my neighborhood do like Coroner. There are still people asking me to please make some copies for them. Even on YouTube there are youngsters reacting positively on the Coroner videos. Putting up a band like Coroner now, it will be a smashing hit. ;D
