I emailed Marky about a few things (forwarding Coroner mail, etc) a week ago, and again about the Blabbermouth article a few days ago. Just got a reply today. About the Blabbermouth article and their current plans, he said he would contact Tommy in the next few days so they can put together some info on what they're up to. So it seems we will know for sure if there's any possibility of a Coroner reunion from the Masters themselves soon, or whatever their individual plans are. I had also told Marky not to miss all the great posts on Blabbermouth and here. He seemed a bit surprised by how highly we still regard Coroner and said : "Wow, big compliments!" Haven't got a reply from Tommy yet.

GREAT NEWS!!! FINGERS CROSSED! everyone, let's hope for the best! Carole, I want you to know that I'm updating the CORONER page on the WIKIPEDIA, the free online encyclopedia! they now have a some-how detailed info page here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coroner_%28band%29everyone is invited to keep this page updated! I did some work on it but you know I may not be the better person to do that - I just wanted to be sure that some justice was done! Thanx again for the great news Carole, keep us updated and bring our heartfelt greets + cheers to the band! ;D

Now what you *really* ought to do is put up those Coroner avatars I made to really freak him out! ;D Nice to hear something back so quickly! That's awesome, even if they don't plan on doing the show!

Awesome!!! Sounds promising. It seems that Marky is on board with this, if the other guys are into it. 1 down, 2 to go!!!!

Good news indeed! I have a feeling it's all going to come down to convincing Ron since he's been out of the music business for a while. If they're still friends, and he can still play, there might still be a chance. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I couldn't even get to Chicago, but I say they've GOT to do it! This would allow the guys to see just how much fun they could have... the new album would then only be a matter of time. ;D

My feelings exactly. I've always thought Marky would be the most willing of the three to go ahead with any Coroner reunion idea. I think Tommy may be too, if he's not busy with other projects. I don't know about Ron though... In the interview I did with them 7 years ago (can't believe it's been so long!) Ron had a project going with his own band, and he said he would be interested in doing both bass and vocals if he were given the opportunity to play with another band. So he definitely still seemed to be very much into music, even if it was mostly in spirit at the time. But of course, that was a long time ago...

Although on a different scale, Artillery was asked to release their demos in 1998. This led to a date in the Wacken festival of the following year and then led into production of the album BACK with Per M. Jensen of The Haunted on drums. They are still active, though not actively recording the material they've compiled yet. They also recently did another date in Denmark.
I believe a Coroner reunion and possible album would be something on a bigger scale because they were so revered and always put out consistantly good recordings that seemed true to the mission we all associate Coroner with. Evolution with a tie in of commonality. Their talents are very missed.
I listen to the old stuff and hear how ahead of their time the sounds were, as well as how progressive they were. Even Ron's vocals (especially on Grin and Mental Vortex) were awesome. They are completely unlike the black metal vocals out there. They are intelligible and not harsh, while still being dark and lending to a duality of harshness to the polished and sometimes brutal sounds.
If Marky, Tommy, and Ron are reading, the above means you guys left before your time was up. We all knew how great you were, and haven't forgotten.

Not to mention he was a kickass bass player too ;D And Tommy was a great guitarist, and Marky good with the lyrics, etc., etc... If Marky, Tommy, and Ron are reading, the above means you guys left before your time was up. Hence my "Ron suck up post" ;D Nahhhh, it ain't sucking up if it's TRUE! Nice post DrMorbid.

Hence my "Ron suck up post" ;D Nahhhh, it ain't sucking up if it's TRUE! Nice post DrMorbid. Thanks. It's not only for my benefit. My story with Coroner was mentioned before, but I was a kid when they came around the first time. Was too yound too see them, but not too young to buy the music. It immediately gripped me as something unusually special. I still have those old, scratched cds all these years later and recently bought Grin. The fact of the matter is I've spent thousands of hours studying with Coroner playing in my headphones. Now I'm studying medicine, the situation is no different. The music has atmosphere and never fails to be interesting and captivating. The images were much the same, too. The graphic design was simple, the sound was simple, yet the pauses in singing drove the point home. Even the fact that seeing the faces of the players was rare lended itself to what I was hearing. What's most amazing is how at the heart of the music, it was simple. Just three brilliant guys, a few keys, a harsh voice. The delivery was brilliance and has not been touched since. We have bands like Mastodon, as well as others who are in the extreme fold, yet can not come close in the delivery. Dare I say this is artful? I'm not going to say they're my favorite, but they are very much up there and the remote possibility of them doing something together again is nearly unimaginable and I've never been so excited. Just once. Nails in my brain... Nails HURT!

man, that's great. and you know what?
I was just thinking about it all TODAY! And then I read this!
if you think aout it, CORONER succeed into making us feel that what they're playing is just...SIMPLE.
and of course, that's not it!
to me, that's when music transcends boundaries. like art as an expression of pure feelings. doing something which requires LOTS of technique, but not displaying it as it's the main thing at all. Instead, building something BIGGER.
a concept in itself.
that's what they did, and what you can hear on GRIN and on the ST album, is what their progression led to. They were crossing the edge. They achieved highest peaks not only in metal, but in MUSIC generally.
I just hope that they know this. Even if the media exposure lacked, they have to know that they left their mark on our souls.

Just imagine if they didn't realise how fuckin' amazing they were?!! It's so good to read these other posts and see that I'm not the only one who really rated them so very highly! They are the masters!! We need them back!! ALL of them! There are no better lyrics anywhere, no better songs, riffs and solos. Where else can you find such a wonderfully dark voice?!! The thing is that they were all individually brilliant, but when you put them together the whole was even more awesome than the unique and amazing parts that it was made up of. Come back!! ;D

I'm thinking they thought that they were forgotten.
Not so...
I've been heavily promoting the news on other boards. I do realize that this is only an invite and the band members must speak to one another, but I'm promoting the news in the light that people can chime in and speak about how much they appreciated Coroner's music.
I can only hope that this isn't a conclusion to Coroner's history.
