Coroner has a long standing history with CF and are mentioned extensively in it. Of course! They used to be roadies with C. Frost ;D To GlidingAbove: you never knew Tom wrote his famous book?! Maybe you never were on the mailing list for Relapse Records or anything... ;D

Been posting the news on www.ultimatemetal.com all morning. Got a warm response, especially from the Opeth board, which has the most traffic, by far, of any other board there. Some 230,000 views and 11,000 threads. I do wonder what the story is behind the promoter and what happened when he contacted them. Or if he contacted them at all. Regardless, this would be big. No one forgot Coroner and unlike many other bands who are reforming, this one is unanimously welcome. Logistics aside, this is a no-brainer. Dr Morbid

To GlidingAbove: you never knew Tom wrote his famous book?! Maybe you never were on the mailing list for Relapse Records or anything... ;D LOL no, I wasn't. To be honest, I'm a much bigger Coroner fan than a Celtic Frost fan, though I do like what I've heard from them. My introduction to them was actually the Obituary cover of "Circle Of The Tyrants", and when I heard that another band did it originally, I went from there. I was also told to avoid the dreaded "Cold Lake" Anyway, it's sad about the Noise Records issue. I'm wondering if it's the same deal when Combat Records folded and they left bands like Forbidden out on the streets. I'm looking forward to getting this book.

Now if they can only entice Psychotic Waltz and Cynic to reform and play, I'll be there......I can feel a bank loan coming on.

Cynic, another EXCELLENT band lost in the fold. I actually e-mailed Shawn Malone a few times back in the mid 90s when he was a student at the University of South Florida. Pretty cool guy. Did they even tour at all for the "Focus" album? Never came around where I lived, anyway.

I was also told to avoid the dreaded "Cold Lake" Yeah, I liked the Obituary cover, and I'll go as far as saying that Cold Lake isn't TOO awful, just as long as 1) you don't look at it as to being C. Frost, and 2) you don't mind power/hair metal. Other than that, yeah, avoid, it can be a bit of a shock due to how much they changed ;D I'm wondering if it's the same deal when Combat Records folded and they left bands like Forbidden out on the streets. I couldn't believe all the trouble Forbidden had in trying to get another record deal, their appearance on the Hard 'n Heavy video ALONE should've been decent enough exposure, you could tell how killer they were just in that one brief segment. Some bands just never get any breaks, I guess (shrugs)

Yes they toured UK to promote Focus, but they never made it near Scotland and I was too broke to travel. They toured USA also, if you're interested check out www.cynicalsphere.com for dates etc.

Well, looks like they DID come near me (Pittsburgh) but I know why I didn't go. I never heard who the opening act was for Cannibal Corpse, and since I wasn't going to go for the main act, I missed them. Damn!

Oh wow!! That's incredible news! And I'm surprised my site and board were even mentioned on Blabbermouth! I emailed Marky about a week ago (for something else, since this news hadn't surfaced yet,) so let's hope he will tell me what's up with this whenever he replies, if he does He must be out of town/on tour/busy, because he's usually pretty good at replying mail... I'm thinking Tommy and Marky would probably be up for it, but I'm more skeptical about Ron since he seemed to have stepped out of the musical scene altogether when Coroner broke up... Come on guys! Do it! We want you back! EDIT: I just emailed Marky again about the Blabbermouth article, and Tommy as well. Let's hope I get a reply from one of them soon

I'm wondering if this is how the promoter is trying to get their attention by contacting them through the media.
Whatever way it is, I'm down and will make the drive from NY to Chicago for this.
Being 12 years old isn't conducive to seeing metal shows in the city. Now that I'm 27, I'd love to see what I admired most of my whole life, just once.

He must be out of town/on tour/busy, because he's usually pretty good at replying mail... Possibly on tour? Is he still doing the Spoo stuff? This is great news, but i have my doubts about how serious that post really is. Blabbermouth can always take the tiniest rumour and blow it up to gigantic proportions. The organizer (Kernon?) mightve been sitting drunk in a bar and mentioned Coroner, some blabbermouth folk disguised as a granny overheard him and dashed to his PC to post the stuff. I mean, apparently he just expressed his wish to see coroner take part in his metal fest, and people have been wanting coroner to reunite ever since they broke up. Im keeping my fingers crossed though, if this really happens im gonna be shitting kittens for years to come.!

Yeah, I said the same thing on the "welcome new people" thread as well (but not in as clever a way, in regards to the "undercover granny" ;D ), all a promoter did was send them an e-mail.

Regardless if Neil Kernon (I thank him for producing Flotsam and Jetsam's "Cuatro") sent an e-mail, a phone call, or whatever, SOMEONE in the know probably saw or heard about this and contacted one of the band members by now. At least, I hope so. I mean, c'mon, a HEADLINER spot. That's some pretty decent money, guaranteed fans, and they don't have to commit to any other dates.
Just remember this. Judas Priest got back together with Rob Halford. Bruce Dickenson went back to Iron Maiden. Even Motley Crue got back together and they hate each other's guts! So why can't the "Swiss metallers from Noise Records" do the same? I think it's safe to say at least half the members of this board from North America would make the trip, and probably more if they announce it'd be a one time deal. Anyway, we'll see if we hear anything over the next few weeks. I have a feeling we'll know one way or the other relatively soon.

Yup, I don't know to what extent the contact went to, but it's worth a shot.
Expect nothing, yet be happy if something does come out of it.
