Just wanted to see if there's anyone who does lyrics on here. I'm a drummer on hiatus (you can see a picture of it on the page 2 thread of "Introduce yourselves!" in the General Chat area), as most of my set is gone, along with being a songwriter on hiatus too (chronic fatigue makes it hard to think). I've tackled all sorts of subjects, three of which can be seen here, which is a video of partial lyrics to three songs I wrote a while back. There's more to read in the description area of the video, but the subject matter(s) in a nutshell involve the Beijing student protests in 1989 that resulted in a bloody massacre, a song I wrote about people in general not being thankful for things/they could be way worse than they are, and one about a local cemetery owner who moved headstones around, didn't care for the place, and fled once the cops got on his tail. I made a video for the stuff, mostly just lyrics only, plus some images; reading my stuff out loud isn't my thing. I didn't do the music though, Johan of the dark ambient outfit Desiderii Marginis graciously allowed me to use a couple of his pieces for it. I think they turned out well. Nice to have something serious on my page for a change, I have too many video game vids on that page. So, anyone else?

I do not write serious music....more comedy music with thick bass and a somewhat punky edge. I have a string of originals that I am trying to make into usable recordings....and I am doing all of the instruments because I don't really know any other musicians any more in real life (I know a bunch online). Here is one song I did for youtube and made a video for, but mind you, it is not Coroner-like at all. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_09tHIeiBnI

Yep, I write lyrics for my own doom metal band. The other members can't really write, so I come up with all the lyrics and most of the music. Here's one of the songs from our debut album.
Blood on the Cross (Thomas)
Can’t you see what you are doing Abusing religion, all for your own name Preachers begging people for money Not for church, but for their own gain
Feeding lies to disillusioned masses They don’t realize the blasphemy you tell Ten bucks a prayer, that’s your only agenda The poor, they can all burn in hell!
There’s blood on the cross
Deceiver, hide behind your wisdom Practitioner, hide behind false law You make fools out of true believers Rob them blind, then leave them for the dogs
There’s blood on the cross
Oh lord, can’t you see the madness down below How can you let these crimes go unpunished So many people, led on by deceiving words When will you make them see? Can you make them all believe? Are you really there at all?
(Lead)
Preacher, do you still think you are holy? Do you still believe god is in your heart? In time, death will reveal your fate And you will burn for all you’ve done
There’s blood on the cross

The poor, they can all burn in hell! Heh! Oh lord, can’t you see the madness down below How can you let these crimes go unpunished So many people, led on by deceiving words When will you make them see? Can you make them all believe? Are you really there at all? Well, of course no one REALLY knows if any religion is the 'right' one or not (or none of them are), but supposedly hypocrites will pay in the afterlife...if they're not already (there's one, if not many sections in the bible about that...dunno what it/they are though ) Preacher, do you still think you are holy? Do you still believe god is in your heart? In time, death will reveal your fate And you will burn for all you’ve done Not that you're bitter or anything Not bad, thanks for posting on this barren thread!

Thanks for checking it out! I tried to write this song without any sort of religious bias (I'm not one to push religion on to anybody). I tried to stick to some sort of middle ground, if I achieved that or not is up to the reader. And, as you said, nobody really knows if there truly is a "true" religion or not, but there are so many supposed "holy men" out there ripping off people who actually have beliefs. In my eyes, that isn't right, no matter what you believe. So this song right here is my tribute to them

Bassist/Vocalist and Chief Lyricist of Chance In Hell, a semi melodic thrash band with deathy vocals from Iowa, trying to make my beloved state known for something other than those 9 guys in masks...

Bah ha ha, I know what you mean! At least dead horse and Helstar came from here, and there hasn't been a good metal scene for quite some time, as Houston's just pretty much known for Blue October, ZZ Top and Destiny's Child, unfortunately

Yeah, but at least Texas also had Gammacide, Rigor Mortis, Near Dark and for better or worse, Pantera...
