I only got into this band in the last 6 months or so and have fallen in love with them.... Anyone else a fan? Here's a sample of some of their earlier stuff for those who haven't heard them -------> www.meshuggah.net/samples/dei03.mp3I love their use of jazz/fusion timings, some of the grooves are absolutely insane. Their later stuff is more bleak and industrial, but very cool as well.

Only thing I've heard/seen from them is one of their videos ("Abnegating Cecity" [sp?]), liked what I saw and heard, can't really say anything else other than that. That song is nuts! All the time changes and insane drumming and all...

You'd do well to grab their album "Destroy Erase Improve" if you dig their sound. It was released in 95 but still sounds fresh as a daisy. I can't get it out of my cd player....

I friggin' love Meshuggah. Saw 'em with Cynic last feb. Singlehandedly one of the best shows I've ever been to, even if the redneck assholes were yelling at Cynic to 'get their faggot asses off the stage.' So Cynic ISN'T as brutal as Meshuggah, so f*&%in' what? I'd like to see those drunken jagoffs get up on stage and try to play anything as complex as Cynic. Sorry for the rant, the 'I' ep is stellar as well, as is 'Catch 33' and their newest (as of 2007), 'Obzen.'

you just have to get Contradictions Collapse, Destroy erase Improve along with Chaosphere and Nothing. Their best albums IMO.

Must agree that you should get "Obzen". That disc just comes at you like a freight train and the persistent drive never seems to let up. Their sound on this disc is stellar and sounds very sinister, more so than their other discs. It rolls along and almost gets under your skin. Not sure how they were able to get to an even higher level on this than their previous work but they did. It is almost hard to comprehend after a while but the disc just keeps spinning and they keep bringing it. It will almost put you in a trance as you find yourself paralyzed by the raw power of the sound. Been many days that I have found myself stuck in my car outside my house because you just can't turn it off.
