Anybody seen a show on the "Blackmail the universe tour"? What do you think? I was at the Astoria in London on 8th February 2005,the show was great but it was a bit weird to see a completely new line up(I've seen Megadeth 3 times in the past with Ellefson/Menza/Friedman). I think "Blackmail the universe" is a great album, what is your opinion on that one?

They are not Megadeth, as far as I'm concerned. Ellefson was the last piece to make a complete Megadeth, now it's only Dave Mustaine with some hired hands.

I think "Blackmail the universe" is a great album, what is your opinion on that one? You meant The System has Failed I'm kinda neutral about that one (and about Megadeth in general). I didnt buy it, I just downloaded some songs and they're definitely better than the crap they had put out in the mid-late 90s but nothing too interesting. Though I'd like to congratulate Dave on putting together that Gigantour thing with Dream Theater (too bad I cant see that one )

Sorry Evilgrin, yes I did mean "The system has failed",I probably look like a right prick on this one!! Very true, good stuff on this one,but "Risk" was definitely a huge disapointment.... The new line up....Dave Mustaine with hired hands?I think that's pretty much the feeling I have but they rocked, hey?!! I know you just can't beat the old line up with Menza and Friedman....but it's better than nothing, right??!!

I used to be a HUGE Megadeth fan back in time. Dave screwed it all up - sad but true.

Long time Megadeth fan here as well. Seen every tour from RIP until the 2000 pre-TWNAH tour, but with this lineup I passed on it. It's just not Megadeth to me. I didn't like the fact that Dave ripped on some of his former members (Chris Poland for one) and said that his current lineup was better than anyone else he played with. Huh? Oh well.

Exactly my point, Gliding. And all after that tirade against violence/metal which stroke Mustaine after Dimebag's death. The guys is plain nuts.

They might be quite good, but they're definitely NOT Megadeth. I have been reading on some forums, that TSHF was meant to be Dave's solo album, but due to record company's pressure he was forced to put the Meagadeth name on it. The lineup on the recording only proves this right. They were all hired guns for the recording of Dave's solo LP. They were never meant to be Megadeth members. So they left and Dave had to find someone who would join him under the Megadeth name. All because of contracts.
I liked some songs from TSHF - "Back in the Day", "The Scorpion" and some other, but the album as a whole sounded a bit boring to me.

I love megadeth and for me Megadeth is Mustaine... although it's hard to see no Junior and others there, I'm still happy Mustaine continues to write great stuff. Saw them in Finland in June and it's was hellova gig! it's like Annihilator - Jeff is Annihilator and it doesn't matter for him who he plays with, they just have to be damn good musicians. And it seem like Exodus step-by-step turns into a similar kind of formation. Tastes differ...

I have to apologize. I saw Megadeth last weekend on "The fields of Rock". They where amazing. I saw a lot of bands there, but Megadeth really went over the top. With this gig they returned i my "good metal notebook" again. Slayer was there too. They played like they didn't have to prove anything anymore. ( Tom was stoned,....again....) It was the wurst gig i ever saw of them. (And i've seen a lot) Slayer sucked, Megadeth ruled !
