Hey guys, I'm looking to find new metal bands to somewhat widen my knowledge of metal. I prefer black metal over almost all others, but I do really like other forms like Power, Melodic Death Metal, a little bit of Death Metal, etc. Currently I listen to a lot of Emperor, Mayhem, Imperanon, Ensiferum, Iced Earth, Deicide, some Children of Bodom, etc. So if you know of any good metal bands, let me know!

Well, I love Soilwork (would be melodic death?), but you probably know them already...

I can highly recommend Turisas from Finland, their debut 'Battle Metal' is a classic, kind of Finntroll meets True Metal. The title suits it, it's Viking folk Battle Metal all the way! www.turisas.comThe Provenance are cool, my favourite band of the moment, they are a Swedish gothic metal band that are kind of a bit like Opeth in style, but with more range, added female vocals and the occasional flute. ;D www.theprovenance.comFor power metal try Dragonforce. Their solos go on for ever at lightning pace. It's like early Helloween on Turbo! Cheesy vocals, but great guitars.

Hello, You may already know them,if not try LOUDBLAST.Very good Death Metal.Fast and furious on their first 2 albums("Sensorial Treatment"/"Disincarnate"),more melodic but nevertheless very powerful on "Sublime Dementia",and absolutely brilliant on "Cross the Threshold" and "Fragments".I've heard their new album ("Planet Pandemonium") is a real bomb, but I stil haven't had the chance to check it out. They'd split up in 1998,and came back last year, with Alex Colin-Toquaine(exAggressor) replacing Nicolas leclerc on the guitar!! Good and pure metal....Paradise Lost!!All their albums until "Draconian Times",which is a jewel and definitely one of my favourite albums of all times.I kind of gave up after that.... I'm obviously looking forward to Kreator's new album("ennemy of God"),as they are kings of Thrash Metal!!I've got a ticket for their show in London in February!!!!(Anybody else going??).

Hey Hybrid! Glad you liked 'em I am familiar with most of the bands you mentioned at the start of this thread (I love Children of Bodom!), except for one: I've heard of Ensiferum, but never heard anything by 'em. What are they like? Are they worth checking out? I highly recommend The Provenance, they are not well known at all, but their quality is amazing. Well worth the effort, it just depends on whether they're your thing or not. Here's links to a couple of mp3's on their site: Tearful, Bitter Broken mp3Climbing Ideals mp3The site is due for an update in the next few days (they have a new album due at the end of January), so apologies if these links stop working after only a short time.

Hey Sirius! To be quite honest, I've only recently discovered Ensiferum, and its also hard to find music by them...but what I have heard is really good. It's almost like a cross of Children of Bodom meets FinnTroll. I could be wrong about that, but thats what it reminds me of, lol. If you can find anything by them, let me know! I think you would really enjoy it!
