Yeah I know this is the Coroner Section of message board, but still a big question remains for me (and I believe) many other "Coroner/Tommy" fans:
What do u think of Tommy's work with Kreator/Clockwork during thoes two Kreator's experimental albums; Endorama and Out Cast, also Clockwork's demo album ?
with having this in mind: a very few solos of Tommy over those albums, on the other hand the songwriting part...
do u think it was a good decision if Tommy was willing to continue with Kreator or Clockwork?
any reviews/point of view/weak or powerful points u wanna share?

I quite like the album Outcast in small doses, but the guitars may as well have been anyone playing - they don't stand out as anything special, and I may have remembered this incorrectly, but is it right that the majority of this album was already written before Tommy joined? Not sure on that one To me, Tommy is chronically under-used on the Kreator albums, but I don't think it was ever gonna be the right fit for his style. Endorama doesn't do anything for me at all, the band sounds like it's struggling to find new direction (a sort of mis-judged attempt at the Megadeth of that era), one step further even than Outcast. There's the odd solo here and there, but it doesn't justify listening to the whole album. I think the link up with Kreator was an unfortunate choice in terms of anything that might progress Tommy's career, I was disappointed for him, felt that he was constrained in the band (just my impression, don't know if there's any truth to it). Clockwork kinda breezes over my head, I listen to it now and again, but it never really grips me or sticks. Tommy is an absolute guitar God, and something about the vibe and passion in his Coroner days just went missing on the other stuff (just IMHO).

well besides all that, I've found a french pop-rock band performing a concert with Tommy on guitar back in 1994. actually I found it a year ago, so I searched for it on youtube again and here are the links: also here's the link to some of Tommy's experiences after coroner (as musician or producer) including info on that french band : www.discogs.com/artist/Tommy+Vetterli

Since the "Endorama" came out I call it, without a doubt, the best their record at all. It's the peak of their career, something like CORONER's "Grin". Tommy's influence on the solos is FREAKING OBVIOUS. In my opinion, after "Endorama" KREATOR had to disband. "Violent Revolution" was actually OK (even though a bit too long (last three songs are just too much (for me)) but the overrated "Enemy of God" I couldn't listened to at all. I am pushing myself to tracks 3 to 4 and just turned it off. It's a pathetic effort to replace what Tommy brought and what the band's direction with "Endorama" was.
About "Outcast" - I totally LOVE the album, but as far as I remember Tommy said in an interview or two that he joined the band too late and have no part whatsoever with writing music (you can acknowledge this by the lack of solos... was there at least one on this album, haven't listened to it in a while), but helped a lot in the mixing part (something what one familiar with CORONER can also hear).
I'm curious to what happened with these TROTZKOPF guys?

I'm not so sure - when you look at it from a Kreator perspective, Endorama is the perceived weak link in their discography, an album struggling for identity, whereas the recent albums are heading back in the direction of the established Kreator style. Endorama wasn't good enough to win over new fans, and not thrashy enough to satisfy/placate their existing fans. It was only the Tommy connection that made me buy it. None of this was Tommy's fault, his solos brought the standards of an average album up higher, but it's still an average album to me. Anybody got a preference for which band you'd have liked to see Tommy join after Coroner? I'd have been happier to see him join Testament when Alex left, that would've been fucking awesome! ;D

I finally get this demo from Clockwork : Tommy gave me recently a original copy (N° 817 )!!I love it : that sounds a little bit like if Coroner had made a demo after "Grin"...

Don't know about Clockwork, so I have no opinion on that. Kreator is my second favorite band, so I have to say I was f$%#ing pumped as hell when I heard Tommy was joining up. While the music was nice and brutal on Outcast, there were NO leads at all, so Tommy may as well not even have been on it. Endorama had some ripping leads and brutal songs, but IMO would have benefitted from a heavier mix and being an EP. When Kreator starts using swirls of keys and clean guitars and real singing all over the place, I feared for my German boys. Oh well, they're still better than Lars and Company.
