Well everyone, a pinball/video game expo that I went to in June and did a report on, is FINALLY (after I spent three days staying up to 1 a. m. to finish it up so it would still be "current" news; feh) going up within the next couple of days! So for those of you into games of yesteryear will probably be interested to check it out.
(note: I've modified and deleted most of the text from this original post, as it originally gave a link to one of the people's web sites that was working on it, but it's now gone)
Think that's it; I'll give the full site address when it's available. Woo hoo!!

I don't really know anything, but I used to be into all those top-down-view scrolling space shoot 'em-ups!! (about 1985, can't remember any of the names!). Before that it was Defender, Bezerk & Galaxians. Probably a bit retro these days! I remember years later getting my first PC (not having seen any console games in years) & getting 'Unreal' and falling off my chair at how far games had come on. Half Life & Deus Ex were good too, but I haven't played any in a while.
I don't know much about pinball games but in about '78 as a kid I used to play one called 'The Black Knight'. It was awesome!! I'd never seen anything like it before, it used to say 'The Black Knight WILL play you!' in a demonic voice, scared the hell outta me! It was the first multi-ball I'd ever seen, first one to have an 'extra' flipper on a different level of the table too!!

Before that it was Defender, Bezerk & Galaxians. Probably a bit retro these days! Berzerk was there at the expo, I played a game of that and got a shot of it's marquee Defender wasn't, but Stargate was. I don't know much about pinball games but in about '78 as a kid I used to play one called 'The Black Knight'. It was awesome!! It was the first multi-ball I'd ever seen, first one to have an 'extra' flipper on a different level of the table too!! Yeah, I LOVED that table! The second level kicked butt too.

Humph, anyone remember THIS one? Well, out of three web sites/people having my article for several weeks--if not MONTHS--apiece, it's ended up NEVER going up, due to whatever excuses and all people want to come up with. Supposedly the current person that has it is working on it (which he's had it since December), but who knows what the deal is this time around... Well, the next H. A. A. G. convention is supposed to be in June...dunno if I'll be able to go or not, but there isn't any reason why I shouldn't share some of my many photos from last years' (plus I'm bored)...enjoy... Lotta pinball games...Hi Score flier that they had out for us to pick up, along with a free Space Invaders sticker (I like how they put the Q*Bert cursing next to the Space Invader...ah ha ha). They make magnets of old arcade marquees.Dan Callahan (I think his name is), one of the organisers of the annual event, along with his wife, Paula.A shot from part of the intro of the very rare laserdisc game Badlands, which I never saw "in the day" (no, I didn't play it). This game I DID play, called Review. Doesn't exactly look, eh, *modern* now, does it? And right you are! It came out in 1938! My dad was only 11 years old back then! NOTE: the photo has been removed, due to this long-delayed story going up; part 1 can be seen here www.stageselect.com/News/NewsViewer.aspx?newsid=1239, whereas part 2 can be seen here: www.stageselect.com/News/NewsViewer.aspx?newsid=1241

Well well well, it was that time of the year again over the weekend, as I got to go to H. A. A. G. again, which I didn't know until the last minute if I was going to be able to go or not (those last few weeks were nail-biting!). Here's a few of the highlights! NOTE: the pics have been removed, due to the guy who put up my article legally owns them now; you can see them at www.ataritimes.com/images/haag2005/index.html

Well, it's that time of the year again, so if there's any metalheads in or around the Houston area from December 1-2 that are also into games, come on down! It's $15 a day, or $25 for both days, with games set on free play, plus door prizes, food and drink (those cost extra though), raffles, etc. Video games from the 1970s to the present and pinball games from the 1930s (yeah, you read that right!) to the present will be there, depending on what will be brought (this year's lineup should be going up on the site any day now!). www.arcadecenter.com

Like I said in another thread, I was thinking of bumping up another topic, so here it is! (toot toot Lets just hope any gamers/few posters we have will actually see it!) Well, I went to the 2004-2006 shows, missed the last two, then was back again last month Took the nephew there too on the second day, which he got to play many games his uncle played back when he was his age...give or take a year They started bringing a few home consoles in 2006, which there was an Atari 2600, 5200, and 7800 there, along with a Colecovision too. Nice to play some new homebrews, like Asteroids Deluxe and Space Duel for the 7800. There were all kinds of other stuff there too, as the website said there were over 150 games...but counting all the games on the MAME-like and home machines, I'd say it was really DOUBLE that. Here's a small sampling (pics to be removed once my article goes up on it): This behemoth came out in 1961 and was still a bit of fun! You put in an appearance request for a local Star Wars 601st Legion, and they'll come! That's the nephew with Boba Fett... Brief video, just don't expect good sound quality though

Looks like a really cool and oldschool event. unfortunately I have only played the pinball on those consoles, back when I was like 6 to 10 years old. well I have been a game freak since I was a kid, I remember the games I haved played on Atari 2600, Commodore64, Amiga500, Sega, etc....I was a champion at "The last ninja 1,2,3", "Dragon nonja", "kick-off 1,2" "Endorado", "River ride 1,2" ...AH too many to name and remember, old good times u know a few years ago I was playing Warcraft III Reign of chaos/Frozen Throne, Counter Strike, Quake III, as a pro gamer and I almost spent my whole life on thoes, like I had a chance to be the qualifier for Warcraft3 Reign of chaos for Korea 2001 WCG, but couldn't make it to go there for the finals anyways, now it's a few years that I've been mezmerized with World of warcraft and Call of duty(4,5,6) 6 is the newest one AKA : Modern warfare2 .... hmm...I think I'm talking too much, what about you guys?

Looks like a really cool and oldschool event. Yep, and it's a good-sized venue too, not something like Philly Classic (whatever it's called now, I don't remember), where you have to wait 15 minutes in line just to play anything in the arcade, unless you go early Saturday morning. But then that's a gigantic, well-known event, plus there's all kinds of home stuff for sale and all...TONS of stuff. This one's mostly arcade, there's very little home stuff. unfortunately I have only played the pinball on those consoles, back when I was like 6 to 10 years old. Did you mean you've never played a real pinball machine? 'Cuz the nephew hadn't...until that day well I have been a game freak since I was a kid, I remember the games I haved played on Atari 2600, Commodore64, Sega, I played a few friends' C64s. Still have 2600 games that I play on my 7800. Which Sega? I've got the Genesis, 32X and CD player. like I had a chance to be the qualifier for Warcraft3 Reign of chaos for Korea 2001 WCG, but couldn't make it to go there for the finals That's too bad...if you can make a few bucks from that, go for it! hmm...I think I'm talking too much, what about you guys? About video games? Naw!

I've got the Genesis, 32X and CD player. well I don't remember exactly, it was a first generation PC (80MHz cpu and 30mb HDD) combined with a SEGA, it was the first PC i saw with BLACK hardware color .... I think it was called "Teradrive" bought it in 1991.

Huh, not familiar with that Sega rig, I wonder if it was any good?
Just do your research on pinballs before getting one, of course. They require maintenance and make sure you don't buy one that has specialized parts: say if there was a Coroner pinball machine (that had specialized parts), you buy one, years later something goes out on it where you have to get the same part from *another* Coroner pinny, and when it's not manufactured any more, they cost a lot getting those parts from e-pay and all, unless you have a second copy of that game to spare.

Huh, not familiar with that Sega rig, I wonder if it was any good? Actually I didn't have any problems with it, having a sega and a PC in one system was a big plus at that time.
