I wanted to hear what bands you guys listen to in this genre. Recently, I've been on much of a quest to find lesser known, but no less spectacular groups in this genre, such as Archetype from Ohio www.archetype1.com They are decently heavy, polished, and pretty progressive. Love them and one of the top ten of this year for my many, many purchases. Zero Hour is another. I usually browse through www.bnrmetal.com to check out new bands. Let's hear yours.

I'm a fan of all things progressive, both in metal and rock. I listen to a bunch of bands in this genre - Watchtower, Vintersorg, Cynic, Atheist. And DT and Symphony X too.
Disillusion from Germany is my newest progressive dicsovery.

So how do you define this genre anyway?
Do Opeth, Anathema and Porcupine Tree count? I think they're great, but would you call them prog metal?

I don't think Deathrow are progressive metal really. But I'd like to stray off-topic and say they were fantastic anyway! I have Raging Steel, Deception Ignored, Life Beyond and both versions of the debut album: Riders Of Doom and Satan's Gift. Just a mention of them makes me smile Hail to Deathrow!

Erm, i think Deception Ignored is one of the best Progressive Thrash Albums ever, just hear Triocton Sure, their style of Progressive Metal is not like Watchtower or Believer, but it has his own trademarks

Deathrow are class. Deception is one of my all time favourite albums. I have them all, but I'm looking still for that Towers in Darkness single because it has two B-sides.
Psychotic Waltz, Watchtower, Spastic Ink, Spiral Architect, Cynic and many other progressive bands are brilliant. not Dream Theater though.

Anyone know what happened with Deathrow? Did any of the members go on to any other musical projects? nlyh: Never knew a single existed! I'll be looking out for it too now

Uwe Osterlehner did a album called 'Your Last Orison' as a band called End Amen. Also on album was Siggi Blasey and Dan Rock of Psychotic Waltz, another great band.
I thought it was a class album
